I am pretty livid. I just got my AB Calculus final back this morning. 80%. Which may not seem too bad, but it is not the number that is bothering me so. Well, not too much at least. What bothers me is the number of stupid mistakes I made, which has been a continuous theme throughout my education.
A lack of studying was definitely not the issue either. I literally threw away everything that I usually do in life for the past month studying for this test. At least 75% of the points I lost were due to these stupid mistakes. If I did not make these mistakes, I would have gotten a 95%. The only consolation I have is that the arrogant asshole who slacks off in class and is a general douche canoe got a 65%. Karma, bitch.
In other news, DiRT Rally is still excellent, following a patch that fixed the pacenote bug. The pacenotes are far more detailed than in DiRT 3, with new terms like “Half-Long” and “Nips.” It’s still difficult as **** though. I need a wheel... Using a controller is really not working.

if those little details piss you off enough to be angry about an 80% on a Calc Final you need to use it as motivation to study harder on the next one, especially if this is a theme.
If they don’t piss you off that much, remember that after you graduate grades don’t mean much of anything anymore, haha.

Oh studying wasn’t the issue. I stopped doing everything I usually do for a month to study for this.

Take solace in that an 80% on the AP exam is a 5 (and probably by a good margin).

It was an 80% curved. Without the curve I was barely on the edge of a 5.

1. Did you sleep well before the test?
2. Do you drink coffee/tea/ anything caffeinated regularly?

1. More than normal.
2. No. Not on a regular basis. Only when I didn’t get enough sleep.

IIRC as long as you got a 4 or higher on the exam you could skip one of the calc courses in my college, not sure about others. Is it still set up so that Calc AB = single variable calc, Calc BC = multivariable calc?

The AP score depends on the school. Some require 4, some 5. I believe mine requires 5. As far as the AB/BC, I believe that multivariable is now a higher calc than BC. BC is a higher calc than AB.

Try a small cup of tea or something mildly caffeinated before math tests. I found that it really helped in situations where attention to fine detail was important, like math and physics exams. Not so much with things like English or Philosophy, you know?

I had the same problem. if you have time ( I know there are plenty of occasions you don't) it is important to look over all your work once you've finished just a brief sanity check is often sufficient to find these sort of mistakes.
